Experience an authentic 3-day budget safari to Sossusvlei from Windhoek, operated by Knap Tours. Guided by expert local guides, explore the towering sand dunes, visit the iconic Deadvlei, and spot desert-adapted wildlife along the way. We pick you up at 9 am from any hotel/lodge in Windhoek and head south to the world-famous Sossusvlei via the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass. Stop at the viewpoint to admire the endless panorama of the Namib. En route, stop for lunch at Solitaire Oasis.
After arrival at the lodge, it is time to relax and admire the vistas of the Namib Desert.
Accommodation: Spend 2 nights at the Namib Desert Lodge (accommodation can be upgraded or downgraded).
Distance: 350 km on a gravel road.
At sunrise, we drive through the Sesriem Gate to the spectacular Sossusvlei. We start with climbing the picturesque Dune 45, experiencing the beauty and vastness of the orange-colored landscape. We have an off-road drive to the surreal Dead Vlei, a vast desert pan where dried-up, ancient acacias stand silent in the impressive, open-air gallery. If you wish, you can climb "Big Daddy" or "Big Mama". The 360-degree panoramic views of the "Sand Sea" are incredible! Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei are considered some of the most photogenic places on Earth!
After lunch, we visit the Sesriem Canyon and Elim Dune.
En route, you can observe occasional wildlife, such as ostriches, oryx, bat-eared foxes, springboks, possibly cheetahs and various birds inhabiting the desert. In the afternoon, it is time for rest and relaxation in the quiet atmosphere of Namib.
Recommended optional activities include a helicopter flight over the dunes.
Distance: 200km.
After breakfast, we depart to Windhoek through the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass. We arrive at the capital before lunch.
We will drop you off at the hotel/lodge of your choice.
